End of November 2025 Update
How can one tiny baby rule so absolutely?
Judah Thomas Moyer (OUR newborn “benevolent despot”) is an adorable, insatiable eating machine, requiring very little sleep and constant attention from his adoring…and sleep-deprived…parents. TWO sets of grandparents are pitching in with house tasks and baby rocking: all of us devoted and loyal subjects, only too willing to serve “His Majesty” while his parents recharge for the next round!
While attending the whims of “The Prince”, we are living in an idyllic area (made even more so by the presence of our grandson and his parents), in an older part of O’ahu, Hawaii, within walking distance of the beach and small stores (the big-box behemoths are far away on other parts of the island). There are no modern McMansions here. The roads meander: you don’t fuss if you miss a turn…you’ll get back eventually…and everyone is outside walking (often barefoot), pushing babies or exercising dogs, and only too willing to stop, chat, and redirect you! Every tenth house has a boat in some stage of refurbishment in the driveway. The pace is slow, and smiles are large. We have been known as “faranges” (outsiders) to the Thai, “gringos” to the Dominicans, and “barons” to the Cambodians; here among the native islanders, we are “haoles.” We feel very much at home, however, with familiar Asian faces, smiles, and pace of living.
It seems Peter and I are destined to test out the medical facilities in each country where we’ve ministered. I think back to his bout of dengue fever in M__________, swine flu and knee issues in Thailand, dental surgery in the Dominican, and (repeated) AFIB flares in Cambodia. Hawaii was no exception: I fell and face-planted, knocked out two crowns, and sprained my wrist! I’m here to report the care was exemplary… I was only snaggle-toothed for a short time…and I escaped dishwashing for three full weeks due to my splint! I’m deeply grateful for the LORD’s protection, as I have a cervical fusion which could easily have been affected.
Meanwhile, in other parts of the world where team members labor, we’ve heard exciting reports from Prince Noumaan (Pakistan and M_____) regarding his recent training of Burmese pastors. Here, in his own words:
“After attending the KMI Pastors & Leaders Training in Mae Sai, Pastor Paulo returned to his village filled with fresh fire and vision. And today, he has already begun training men and women in his community, using the same materials and teachings he received through KMI. THIS is what multiplication looks like. THIS is why we train THIS is the vision of KMI — to equip and empower indigenous leaders who then multiply disciples in their own nations. When one leader rises, an entire village can be transformed.”
And that is what training people to make disciples who make disciples is all about. When believers are trained well enough that they can immediately train others, the Gospel multiplies exponentially!
In Cambodia, despite international intervention and mediation, the skirmishes with Thailand continue, with many border-dwelling Cambodians unable to return to their villages. Our highly placed government official is in the middle of these negotiations and has the opportunity to witness to Cambodian soldiers at the front. We were able to equip him with another 25 Gospel radio sets, which he distributed to those who come to meetings. Pray that the soldiers will respond to the Lord’s calling.
Also in Cambodia, Pastors Rin Yame (Mercy Village Church), Sun Sokha (Glory Church), Joe Radaniva (Hope Ministries), and Soeuy Lak (AMG Cambodia) continue to faithfully send out teams of trained children’s leaders and church planters to spread the Good News and establish ministry footholds in places where the Gospel has never been. Cambodia, perhaps because of its wretched past, is wide open to the Kingdom of God; the numbers of salvations, baptisms, and new church plants are astonishing. All of these pastors, because of their ministry with children, are gearing up for their Christmas celebrations, which frequently become evangelism opportunities as the kids invite friends to attend the festivities. We are praying for additional finances, which will help support the small extras necessary for special food and little gifts.
Pastor Jaime in the Dominican Republic, whose life is never dull, has hosted a number of mission teams with the dual purpose of completing construction projects and bringing a type of VBS experience to the Haitian children. It is truly remarkable what the LORD has brought about in the DR through Pastor Jaime in the short years since COVID; from his initial move to the DR with few contacts, to establishing a Dominican church, birthing a burgeoning Saturday Kid’s Club, building multiple chapels for Haitians, establishing many Haitian churches and supporting their pastors, providing on-going training for pastors, developing a micro-loan program for leaders to become self-sustaining, to continuing on-going disciple making, constructing the Mission House, and hosting an influx of mission teams to help out with the new projects…what an incredible progression! We feel that every moment and every cent we’ve invested in Pastor Jaime has borne 10-fold fruit.
At Thanksgiving, collectively and individually, we gave thanks for our incredible blessings. This year, our gratitude overflows for:
· The safe delivery for Liz and the long-anticipated arrival of Judah,
· Our Lord’s protection from serious harm when I fell,
· Peter’s continued great health and ability to work long hours,
· Aaron’s promotion to Major in the Air Force (Judah does not acknowledge he is seriously outranked!),
· The amazing financial support we’ve received to further disciple-making training and children’s ministries in Asia and the DR,
· Incredible Bible resources gifted to us, which have enabled the development of Cambodian Pastoral Practical Training courses,
· Faithful friends, supporters, and prayer partners who underwrite all our partners in the field,
· And always, the greatest blessing, the sacrifice Jesus made to redeem us once and for all.
As we head into the Christmas season and celebrate the coming of our Savior, may we never forget the millions who do not know His name, have never heard of the Hope we have in Him, and who are desperate for purpose and meaning.
“…from you shall come forth for Me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.” Micah 5:2
